Malang, July 4th 2023 – The Study Programme of Japanese Literature (SPJL) FCS UB implementing Independent Learning-Independent Campus (MBKM) in collaboration with PT Yamaha Musical Products Indonesia. As a response to the cooperation, since the Even Semester in 2023, SPJL has sent a number of students to participate in the activity under the MBKM program. This collaboration aims to provide practical industrial experience and broaden working connection as well as career opportunity after graduation to the students.
PT Yamaha Musical Products Indonesia has launched the MBKM program in order to provide opportunities to hone their skill in translation for the students in the working environment. This program was initiated with the goal to support students who are interested in language and linguistics, and at the same time positively contribute to the musical instruments industry in Indonesia.
This program also gives a chance for students who are skilled and passionate in language to be involved in various translation projects within the company. The chosen students will be directly supervised under professionals in the musical instrument industry and have the opportunity to apply their academic knowledge in the context of a real working environment.
The primary advantage of this program lies in the chance to work together with the international team at PT Yamaha Musical Products Indonesia. Students involved in this project will be given various translation tasks, from technical document to marketing materials, which will expand their understandings about many aspects of musical instruments industry
One of SPJL students, Christian Ardy Handoko who joined this program shares,
“During this internship I experienced many wonderful benefits. Starts from training myself to work together with the team, especially in communication. Other than that, I gained practical experiences on how Japanese language is used in a professional working environment. In this internship, a senpai made me realized that the essence of working as a translator is not merely 伝える (to convey) but also 伝わる (delivered).”
Not only Christian Ardy Handoko, there are also SPJL students who participated in this program whose names are Dimas Syahputra Harahap, Rangga Prakosa Putra, Muhammad Rafli Neriansyah, and Angelika Palma Amanda.
Several facilities obtained while undergoing the program included pocket money, free lunch and other delightful facilities. Through this project, students will have the opportunity to expand their professional network by meeting important people in this industry.
This program offered by PT Yamaha Musical Product Indonesia is a positive effort in providing resources to develop translation skills in an authentic working environment. With the direct support of the professionals in the musical instrument industry, students will be able to expand their knowledge about the industry whilst making a meaningful contribution for the company. Hopefully, this program serves as an example for other companies to support Indonesian younger generations in their education and career development.
